Almanor Junction History
In November 2023, we acquired Skyline Plaza (Now Almanor Junction) at a real estate auction. The building’s shell was constructed between 2006 and 2008 but has never been occupied. Over the years, Skyline Plaza has changed hands at least three times. The structure boasts a total of 24,852 square feet, which can accommodate up to 14 tenants. Although there were initial attempts to establish a salon and a laundromat, these tenant improvements were never completed. During the significant snow season of 2022-2023, a portion of the roof collapsed due to a longstanding water leak. This leak led to decay in the top plate of the back wall, causing some of the trusses to fail and affecting two of the units.
What's Next for the Building
Repairing Almanor Junction has been and will be a costly endeavor, which will slow down our plans to open the building for tenants. However, we are committed to moving forward.
Tasks and Timelines
- Demolish damaged section and clean up debris - Complete!
- Hire Engineering firm to complete plans for permit - Complete!, we hired NST Engineering for this.
- Obtain Building Permit form Plumas County - Complete!
- Hire contractor for the building repairs - Complete! - Almanor Preferred Builders.
- Start Repairs - Almanor preferred builders has completed replacing the entire back wall and roof structure that was damaged! They continue to help with Tenant Improvements
- Re-Stucco entire back wall - 90% done, should be completed in mid-August 2025
- New roofing, 90% done, Should be completed in mid August 2025
- Hired NST to design and prepare plans for the Laundromat. We hope to open the Laundromat in early 2026 or sooner!
- Working on preliminary plans for the Family Entertainment Center called "The Fun Depot" Hoping to open at least part of it in the Spring of 2026!
Our Dreams for the Future of Almanor Junction
At Almanor Junction, we envision a vibrant and bustling community hub that caters to a diverse range of businesses and services. Our goal is to transform this building into a premier destination where local entrepreneurs can thrive and residents can enjoy a variety of amenities.
We hope to open the Laundromat as our first tenant and then work towards realizing our dream of creating a Family Entertainment Center. Our current plans for the "Fun Depot" include an indoor miniature golf course, an arcade, and a "Duck Pin" bowling alley, among other exciting features. Additionally, we are considering incorporating a co-working space in part of the building to support local freelancers and small businesses.
To ensure that all local youth have access to the fun and enrichment offered at the Family Entertainment Center, we’ve partnered with The Almanor Foundation to launch The Conductors Club—a nonprofit initiative that provides scholarships and program access for children and teens who may otherwise be unable to participate. Funded by donations and supported by volunteers, The Conductors Club will offer dedicated hours and special activities exclusively for its members. Our hope is to foster a safe, inclusive, and joy-filled environment where all kids in the Lake Almanor Basin can play, learn, and build lasting memories.
In addition to the commercial spaces, we are exploring opportunities to host community events and markets, enhancing the sense of community and providing a venue for local talent and businesses to shine. Our dream is to see Skyline Plaza not just as a place of business, but as a cornerstone of the community where people come together, connect, and support each other. We are excited about the journey ahead and are committed to making this vision a reality.
